Supreme Court Justice

This week has been a one of major news stories. One of the biggest is the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. He was a more "conservative" Supreme Court Justice. Now, you may ask, what does this have to do with us?

First, the Supreme Court Justice are the most powerful group in government. They make most of the final rulings in this country's major decisions. In addition, although the president is the leader of this country, they are the "appointed leaders of justice." They bring the supposed justice to the country in making rulings on laws. The are not the DOJ, but the "Big Bosses" in DC.

Second, it has a lot to do with us because they make the final rulings. Meaning laws like the voting act, ex-convicts voting rights, affirmative action, or any other major law goes through them as the final decision. They say "yes or no" to the things that can affect many of those around us.

Last, this has a lot to do with us because the first (and probably last) African-American president of the United States may decide who will go into office as the Supreme Court Justice. See, the Supreme Court Justice are in office for a lifetime. Which means they are in office until the day they die. No matter what president appoints them in office. Therefore, President Obama can do the right thing and put someone in office that is beneficial for everyone (including us).

This Supreme Court Justice is important because of the ruling format. Their are nine Supreme Court Justice that is the standard number. With his death, that means their are only eight. Therefore, if the voting is split 4-4, the smaller courts ruling stand. However, with a ninth appointment Supreme Court Justice, the ruling would be 5-4. The way it was intended to be from the start.

The way the Supreme Court Justice is now, it stands as four conservatives vs four liberals. Which means that four people with more democratic views and four with more republican views. Therefore, if or when president Obama makes a decision (if the decision doesn't get appealed by the majority republican senate) then the Supreme Court Justice will have a more liberal sense/ruling for justice.

Closing, I am not a huge political buff. However, I do know a thing or two about politics. (1) They are dirty and (2) they are based off of timing. And, unfortunately a man is died, however the timing in which it happens gives president Obama major power in his last year of office.

To close out this post, I will give my top 3 candidates for Supreme Court Justice

1. Eric Holder, (former AG to president Obama). He is my favorite because he is a excellent example of strength and fair viewpoints. Mr. Holder is a true brother and he is the definition of common sense. He should have been the president. President Obama was in fact, a much better president with AG Holder as his right-hand man.

2. Ben Jealous, (former president of the NAACP). Mr. Jealous is also one of my favorites because he is the idea of justice and black excellence. Again, his affiliation was better with him in office. The NAACP was at its best when he was in charge. Strong and thoughtful, Dr. Jealous would make a great Supreme Court Justice.

3. Terri Sewell, (U.S Representative, AL). Mrs. Sewell is a incredible human being. Well spoken and a strong as well as thoughtful mind, she is a prime candidate. She is a strong and mature Black Woman, one that has the best interest of all her people. She would also make a great Supreme Court Justice.

RIP Mr. Dick Gregory

Mr. Dick Gregory was much more than a comedian. To simply say he was a comedian would almost water-down his greatness. The greatness in which he used a comedic style to educate those of various generations and philosophies. Mr. Dick Gregory was a man of intelligence, sophistication, and humor. Mr. Gregory was a truth seeker and one whom understood that a man must always investigate the conspiracy as well as facts written in the open to truly get a possible understanding of this cryptic world. Baba Gregory understood the importance of health and taking care of one's body. He understand the importance of a healthy spiritual life, and having a true connection with the one true universal GOD. And, the importance of being aware of our ancestors whom came before we all did. Furthermore, Mr. Gregory understood the importance of mental awareness, and the idea to continue to read and learn throughout the journey of life. FASFA

I try to explore different topics and ideas to discuss/share on the blog. While going through some papers and looking through some stuff, I remember that I forget to write about this topic. Therefore, today we are going to talk about FASFA. First, you may ask, "What is FASFA." FASFA is federal aid or money for going to college. Although they said "federal aid", it is basically tax that is set aside for students who want to go to college, but need money to help pay for college. FASFA is available to students who have need and are looking to attend college (certificate program, associate degree, or 4 year degree). You need to fill out FASFA every year. FASFA should be filled out by any and every student. It is something that will without a doubt helpful in paying for school. A simple summary is basically this: (1) Wait until you or parents file Income Tax (2) Go to this website- https://fafsa.ed.gov/ (3) Create a account (4) Fill out all of the informat...

Short Story of the Fatherless Black Male

I wrote this in the backseat of a car during a road trip. This post may have a couple of grammar errors and a couple of different ideas. But, this is how I truly felt. Let's get into it. I can't sugar-coat it or make it seem insignificant. Point blank, being a young black male without a father sucks. It worse than the stench of rotten eggs, and it feels worse than being hit by a truck at high speed. Being a fatherless male is like having half of your self taken away at birth. Being a father black male means going through life without a round-the-clock mentor, a disciplinary, a friend, a dad. I mean having a mom is a blessing within itself. Most fatherless males usually have a mom. However, if it took two to create, then it is best to take two to mold and build. And, let's be honest, it's some questions no dude feels comfortable or feels right asking their mom. That is just one of the reason why not having a father sucks. At the very least, it is a inconvenien...
