                                                                  "Education"

Post featured on Criticl.me

Education means many things: success, knowledge, and the one that probably everyone can relate to- DEBT!

However, education means a lot more to me. Maybe, it is because I am a Young Man of Color. Possibly it is the fact that with education, I can better myself at further being a positive role model/example. Whatever, it is; I place education close to my heart. I not going to go into the emotional and personal details, but I am going to explain what it means for Me as a Young African-American Male.

(1) Education and knowledge has opened my mind personally to what exactly is out there in the world. Education can take you many miles away mentally (story books and books about space) and physically (studying at big universities and studying aboard). Further, education can take you further in possibly the most significant area: Your mind.

Since a little kid, I have always been inquisitive. However, with the help of education; even at a Young Age I began to understand why birds fly. Why bears hibernate. Further, even behind a youthful mind of discovery; education has truly made me smarter. I have been able to understand life more clearer, be more confident because of knowledge, and I become the Young Man I am today. With education, I would not be able to articulate what I am saying right now. As a Young Black Male education to me is one of the most precious things to have. With education, it can without a doubt change a lot of obstacles and situations around.

However, unfortunately because of lack of government funds (the why in which schools receive funds from the government which is bias and discriminative), life outside of school, and other major priorities or temptations; many of My Brother are robbed of the chance to have a fair/decent education.

(2) No one can take education away from Me/Us.

What I mean by this is, because of the character and physical assassination of Black Males: African-American Males are viewed as ignorant or violent animals. However, with a education I can actively fighting the stereotype and fight for justice. Further, with education I have to be respected.
It reminds me of when Richard Sherman came on ESPN First Take and said "You have to address me as (Blank)." Although, Richard meant this in a football and non-related way; I think about this when it comes to education. No matter what you try to say about me, you have to state that I indeed did receive a education and your traps/stereotypes mean nothing to me.

Education shows a personal accomplishment and success that lasts forever. Possibly, even greater than this (because I could care less about Fox News lies) is the power educations give African-American Males (A group that society tries to make powerless or even greater: LIFE-LESS).
Last, educations means: (3) Tool for success.

What I mean by this. Is education is the key to be success in every step of our lives (rather street or book smarts). But, particularly education will help Us to achieve the goals that we want to accomplish. The Great Minister Malcolm X said "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today."
Therefore, in many ways only education (only behind GOD and Family) can help Us make Our Dreams a reality.

In closing, what does education means to me?
It means a lot. It has came in handy and as I continue to live life; it will come in handy many more times. Education has enable me to be part of the man I am today. Education can never erase the obstacles, stereotypes, and/or pressures of being a Young Male of Color. However, it does help to have every tool accessible in the journey to Manhood.

RIP Mr. Dick Gregory

Mr. Dick Gregory was much more than a comedian. To simply say he was a comedian would almost water-down his greatness. The greatness in which he used a comedic style to educate those of various generations and philosophies. Mr. Dick Gregory was a man of intelligence, sophistication, and humor. Mr. Gregory was a truth seeker and one whom understood that a man must always investigate the conspiracy as well as facts written in the open to truly get a possible understanding of this cryptic world. Baba Gregory understood the importance of health and taking care of one's body. He understand the importance of a healthy spiritual life, and having a true connection with the one true universal GOD. And, the importance of being aware of our ancestors whom came before we all did. Furthermore, Mr. Gregory understood the importance of mental awareness, and the idea to continue to read and learn throughout the journey of life. Mr. Gregory activism and platform is beyond great, and very ...

FASFA

I try to explore different topics and ideas to discuss/share on the blog. While going through some papers and looking through some stuff, I remember that I forget to write about this topic. Therefore, today we are going to talk about FASFA. First, you may ask, "What is FASFA." FASFA is federal aid or money for going to college. Although they said "federal aid", it is basically tax that is set aside for students who want to go to college, but need money to help pay for college. FASFA is available to students who have need and are looking to attend college (certificate program, associate degree, or 4 year degree). You need to fill out FASFA every year. FASFA should be filled out by any and every student. It is something that will without a doubt helpful in paying for school. A simple summary is basically this: (1) Wait until you or parents file Income Tax (2) Go to this website- https://fafsa.ed.gov/ (3) Create a account (4) Fill out all of the informat...

Short Story of the Fatherless Black Male

I wrote this in the backseat of a car during a road trip. This post may have a couple of grammar errors and a couple of different ideas. But, this is how I truly felt. Let's get into it. I can't sugar-coat it or make it seem insignificant. Point blank, being a young black male without a father sucks. It worse than the stench of rotten eggs, and it feels worse than being hit by a truck at high speed. Being a fatherless male is like having half of your self taken away at birth. Being a father black male means going through life without a round-the-clock mentor, a disciplinary, a friend, a dad. I mean having a mom is a blessing within itself. Most fatherless males usually have a mom. However, if it took two to create, then it is best to take two to mold and build. And, let's be honest, it's some questions no dude feels comfortable or feels right asking their mom. That is just one of the reason why not having a father sucks. At the very least, it is a inconvenien...
