I am tired of talking about this. Lebron and his lack in the Tamir Rice, Seth Curry and his lack of speaking up in the face of firing coach Mark Jackson. However, when I think about the power of the black athlete, I feel a certain way.
Anyway, if you haven't heard, Cleveland Cavaliers have fired their coach. Basically to make a long story short, Blatt was a GM hire. Nobody wanted him.
Now, after two unimpressive years, he is gone.
Anyway, now everyone is pointing the finger at Lebron James. People sensed Lebron was tired of him, so he was fired.
One powerful black man tired, forced the hand of the owners. The well respected and well paid slave, forced his master to make a move.
See the power of the black athlete surpasses that in which they will do.
Now, image if Seth Curry had made a fuss or an attempt, Mark Jackson would have his job.
Image if the NBA players wore the "I can't breathe" tee shirts for more than one game.
What if, even with the supposed "little he knew about the Tamir Rice case", what if
Lebron come out and made impactful action.
He could have sat out a game, maybe held a toy gun exchange day (kids bring real looking toys gets a exchange for nerf or bright color guns). Or, he could have simply met with the family.
See the black athlete has unlimited power. Especially a black athlete who is a superstar.
See the black athlete has something the owners don't. He has the power of the people and the influence over the masses.
Now, maybe the black athlete is scared or could care less. However, his range and power are unlimited. And to see a brother waste his power, on just a stupid game is sad.
I am glad that the coach is a brother, but what is a coach or a community with its star players. Lebron has a responsibility and so does every other black superstar in professional sports.
Sincerely,
The Brown Brother
