Short Story of the Fatherless Black Male

I wrote this in the backseat of a car during a road trip. This post may have a couple of grammar errors and a couple of different ideas. But, this is how I truly felt. Let's get into it. I can't sugar-coat it or make it seem insignificant. Point blank, being a young black male without a father sucks. It worse than the stench of rotten eggs, and it feels worse than being hit by a truck at high speed. Being a fatherless male is like having half of your self taken away at birth. Being a father black male means going through life without a round-the-clock mentor, a disciplinary, a friend, a dad. I mean having a mom is a blessing within itself. Most fatherless males usually have a mom. However, if it took two to create, then it is best to take two to mold and build. And, let's be honest, it's some questions no dude feels comfortable or feels right asking their mom. That is just one of the reason why not having a father sucks. At the very least, it is a inconvenien...

What I learned during this first month of 2016

I know everyone and they momma went crazy over this "New Year, New Me" thing. And, although I did not feed into this kind of mindset, I do believe in personal growth and development during time. That is why I thought it would be good to basically track my personal progress through the year. That is why, now starting at the end of every month, I will be highlighting what I did and my personal progress. As a result, I hope that each of you will do the same. For me, this month was full with getting back into a rhyme. Getting back into school, work, and just trying to get away from the procrastinating and aggravating holidays. Don't get me wrong, the holidays were good. However, I work best in I am constantly in a rhyme. Second, this month has taught me to be more aggressive. I said that during the beginning of the year, I would start YouTube. I kind of got off that train. But, now I know that social media and YouTube is may best bet. Last, I learned to not take a sec...

Top 5 Health Mistakes That Black Males Make

I look around more and more, and I see less people here. Due to not just old age or gun shots, brothers are leaving here earlier than ever because of bad health. Now, I can't blame us as a whole. This system has always given us the worst, depicted us as the worst. Example #1 Anyway, for years, the system has tried to corrupted as mentally, spiritually, and (you guessed it) physically. That is why Black Males lead many categories in high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes. In addition, to the inside, they have set traps for us (particularly black males) to drown in the pool of death one way or another. In this blog post, I will try to give the 5 health mistakes, black people make. Specially, us Black Males. 1. Use deadly hygiene products- As my man "Mr. Joe Soap", is smiling up top, these product's bite are worse than their bark. First, let's talk about your deodorant. If your using Old Spice, Axe, or etc. You are killing your bod...

The power of the black athlete

I am tired of talking about this. Lebron and his lack in the Tamir Rice, Seth Curry and his lack of speaking up in the face of firing coach Mark Jackson. However, when I think about the power of the black athlete, I feel a certain way. Anyway, if you haven't heard, Cleveland Cavaliers have fired their coach. Basically to make a long story short, Blatt was a GM hire. Nobody wanted him. Now, after two unimpressive years, he is gone. Anyway, now everyone is pointing the finger at Lebron James. People sensed Lebron was tired of him, so he was fired. One powerful black man tired, forced the hand of the owners. The well respected and well paid slave, forced his master to make a move. See the power of the black athlete surpasses that in which they will do. Now, image if Seth Curry had made a fuss or an attempt, Mark Jackson would have his job. Image if the NBA players wore the "I can't breathe" tee shirts for more than one game. What if, even with the suppose...

Meek finally gets a W

Hi, what up my brothers, I hope that y'all are doing well. I wanted to come to you guys with some fresh content. Since the hip hop articles and topics are such a heated debate, we are going to start posting about the current state of hip hop on a bi-weekly basis. Basically a new post twice a month. Anyway, I thought I would start on the positive. Now, I stand behind my Purple Reign article, however like I said I support anyone if their trying to make the right moves. Anyway, as you recall, the greatest beef in hip hop ever happened last year. The Meek Mill beef was the biggest since I don't remember. Anyway, we all know that Meek took the biggest L in recent recored history. I mean, it got so bad that people. we're giving Meek the L for stuff he did not even do. Meek career basically got destroyed. Like stated I could care less about the beef, or the two individuals involved. However, I like a underdog and I respect as well as support any brother that trying to be...

8 Youtubers for Young Black Males

I did this list a few months ago. However, the list and ideas did not go as well as I wanted. So this is a new and old list. Some are new and some are old. This blog post is a idea that come from a previously posted piece done by Cee Milan of Blavity.com. The item was 8 US and Canada YouTubers to help you find your inner #CarefreeBlackGirl.  http://blavity.com/8-us-and-canadian-youtubers-to-help-you-find-your-inner-carefreeblackgirl/ Therefore, that gave me the idea to do one for Young African-American Males. We need inspiration, motivation, and knowledge to achieve success. There are not a lot of Black Male YouTubers, but the ones that are on this list are chill and impactful. Let's get into the list. 1. Kaelin Edwards https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVNYw6ZGvK1_OhF8OG1OrKA https://www.youtube.com/user/KaelinKEdwards This Young Brother is out of Bakersfield, CA. The Youngest Brother of YouTube comedy genius Kevin Edw...

The Flint Water Situation

First, I have heard about the Flint Water Situation for a minute. However, I am now just making a post about the situation. After praying about the situation and really getting into the full grasp of the destruction of the Flint residents by those who where sworn in to protect them, I felt some way for a while now. When I think about the Flint Water situation, it truly does feel like Katrina all over again (the statement and feeling that was made a couple of weeks ago by someone other than me). I feel exactly like the dude who said that statement. Flint is very poor and mostly black, and to see the conditions that those in "charge" put them in was shameful. The water is so dirty, lead-filled, and contaminated that it has been classified by many as CHEMICAL WASTE. The lead levels have been off the charts and are destroying our precious kids (children, little brothers/sisters for the youngsters). What is happening is basically mass homicide. I mean, let's be frank and...

Why the black man can't get a job?

Cause Brother back home be hating when the seasons change. Cause they ain't got no heat and no A.C, Walmart Distribution just fired my homie he just had a baby. You wonder why there's been so many B and E's lately, why brothers from the hood shooting like this is TNT lately. And since all the ballers are leaving college early, you see no brothers with degrees lately. -J. Cole Hi, I hope your are doing good. I had to take some time off and focus on school. It hitting harder than I thought I would, but that's life. Anyway, I want to talk about something that has been on my heart this week. The other day, I got a call from one of my mentors. We were talking about life as always until we landed a specific topic. We were talking about economics and the financial empowerment for the black community. Then, he stop me and told me about a article inside his local newspaper. The article was about jobs and the discrimination towards African-Americans in the hiring proc...

How to be the best student possible....

How to be the best student possible is hard and is going to be quite difficult. Being the best will acquire determination, being focused, and straight will power. In addition to those qualities, you need certain skills to achieve the kind of success that only belongs to a selective few. As always, I look to share things that I think can only add to strength to some areas and help in our daily journeys. Therefore, today lets look at the best ways to be the most complete student possible. 1. Study- This seems pretty simple, however if you don't know how to study the right way then you will not have as much success. In addition, no matter how good you are at studying the right way (which is basically note cards and verbal as well as visual association), you always need to do the most important thing: Reserve enough time to study. 2. Time management- Speaking of time, one of the most underrated and underappreciated aspect of learning is strategic timing. Rather test taking, m...

2016

Well, we finally made it! If your reading this than that means you have not succumb to the fact of being constantly targeted, the pressures of being a young black male, or you have not succumb to the dangers of your environment as well as being a product of your environment in the year 2015.  For that and many reason, you are blessed and in a better position than others. I don't usually start a post off like this but, I feel that 2016 is truly going to be different. Instinct has been around longer than the computer or weapons of mass destruction, therefore it is safe to say that my instinct is correct. Now, don't get me wrong, we will see many things that will take a little piece of us away. We unfortunately will see another unarmed brother get killed. We will also see the steep decline in the place we call the United States of America. Last, there will still be poison (of various forms) in our communities. However, what will be different about this year has to be two t...
