" THE TRAP: The Music and its REAL Meaning "

A song called "Trap Queen" shut-down the internet faster than Kanye's Wife. The song "Trap Queen" spread throughout the radio, faster than a Outkast "Reunion" Single. The song "Trap Queen" was probably the biggest song in Hip-hop in the last two years. However, I'm not here to talk about the music or any other thing. I here to talk about the "trap."

Let me tell y'all something, My Brothers. The "trap" is real.

First, before I start off like this I would like to say; I am not dissing or putting down any of My Brothers who had to "Do, what they had to do." However, I am here to drop is knowledge and give y'all wisdom. While, here we go.

It started off when I was young, maybe about eight or nine years old; "Dirty South Rap" became King. When I first began to hear the glorification of the "Trap" it was around this time of the transition of rap into the "South." It is ironic (no disrespect) but the first person to go in-depth lyrically for me was actually the "King Of The South" (not naming no names). Anyway, now going on eight, nine, ten years later we have guys like "Trap Queen" who are still carry on something that is a reflection of our communities; however should not be fantasize.

Again, I am not dissing or judging anyone for the choices they perceive to have their best interest for them or their family (financially). However, I am talking about how it is destroying Us and how much it is highlighted in a "heroism" form.

First, let me explain what the "trap or trap house" means. I mean I can denounce it and talk about it a thousand ways. However here is the definition from Urbandictionary.com (summarize by me)
Trap or Trap House- A place were drugs and other illegal agents are sold for profit by dealers.

Now, this is one of two parts of this article were I'm going to blow your mind.

Now, if you've completed at least the sixth grade you know what synonyms means.

"Synonyms"-A synonym is a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language.

Now, I'm going to give you the definition of what a "trap" (the trap, when is non-related to hip-hop).

Trap- a device or tactic intended to catch an intruder, enemy, error, or substance. Which is Us, the system's "scapegoat" or " 3/5 property" that they hate because We gained freedom and just because we exist. Anyway, reference citation for the definition is (wikipedia.com).

Now, my definition of a "trap"- Traps are to catch something or somebody. "A place (at times same as a house look-up: "Roach Motels") to catch, hold, or retain a animal and/or a inferior species.

WOW! So, you mean to tell me "trap and trap" mean the same thing. I further my case by this statement made by a famous rapper. "We call it the trap because their is only one, maybe two ways of getting out the trap. Being killed or going to prison."

You can now, look at traps from so many angles that I am drooling. However, the trap I want to talk about is the trap that leads to "The Big Trap" or trick. That is modern-day slavery we call "incarceration." The system has always tried to trap Us. Now they got Us both ways, we doing it to ourselves and them forcing Us in that direction.

School to prison pipeline, inferior education, oppressed neighborhoods, the killings or at least the destruction of major "Black Leaders"(famous and/or as well as fathers"), and the new mindsets of "this generation."

As you can see their have always been traps to set Us up to fail.

However, lets now focus on the glorification of the "trap" and the consequences of falling into the "trap" of modern day slavery. This is the big kicker, the part 2 of the big reveal.

First, I like to apologize for even I did not know about this.

Anyway, if you have at least completed middle-school or junior high (whatever you called it); then you should know about the thirteenth amendment. The thirteenth amendment was the abolishment as well as the amendment to make slavery and/or involuntary servitude illegal. However, that's why I like to follow smart people on twitter. Also, I want to personally Thank all of my Sisters out here; because without y'all the Black Lives Matter Movement or any movement for that matter would not be in existence.

Anyway, a Sister that I follow on twitter @BrownBlaze brought something to attention that I knew absolutely nothing about. This may be the "granddaddy loop-hole." The thirteenth amendment does not fully make slavery illegal.

Here is the part highlighted, that should bring chills down your spine or maybe even make you sick. The Thirteenth Amendment Section One states (and I quote) " Neither Slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for whereof the party shall be duly convicted, shall exist within the United States."

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

This is super crazy.

So because it is a result of a "trap" from the "trap."

This is the fact. This is modern day slavery in which this is the only way bondage or rule over your life is "green-lighted." And, not only with slavery in which someone tells you what to do. But, also in terms of "involuntary servitude", I mean just look at how little they pay U.S prisoners. I mean I think it's like 30 cents an hour, while the system makes countless amounts of money. I hour of your life is only worth thirty cents, this is eye-opening.

Now, I am not saying that every person is there they are for no reason. There are some crazy people in this world. However, many prisoners are first-time small offence criminals who receive harsh convictions. Even President Obama said this doing his headline visit to a federal prison last week (he is the only active president to visit a prison in history). Further, there are some Brothers who are unfortunately products of their environment, felt their backs were against the wall, a causality of this "ugly" society, just was not raised without proper parental training, or etc. (direct link between single-parent households, broken systems, broken window-policies, poor school-systems, and poor systemic changes).

This trap is so sad, but its also true. The definition of the trap on both sides is basically something can't usually get out of.

In closing, the "trap" is Real. And, I don't want another Brother to fall into it. That's why We at The Brown Brother are over here trying to change the narrative, enlighten, and enhance Our Brothers.

While, this is something I just wanted to share.

I wouldn't bring it up, if I didn't have too.

Love Y'all

Sincerely,

The Brown Brother.

RIP Mr. Dick Gregory

Mr. Dick Gregory was much more than a comedian. To simply say he was a comedian would almost water-down his greatness. The greatness in which he used a comedic style to educate those of various generations and philosophies. Mr. Dick Gregory was a man of intelligence, sophistication, and humor. Mr. Gregory was a truth seeker and one whom understood that a man must always investigate the conspiracy as well as facts written in the open to truly get a possible understanding of this cryptic world. And, the importance of being aware of our ancestors whom came before we all did. FASFA

I try to explore different topics and ideas to discuss/share on the blog. While going through some papers and looking through some stuff, I remember that I forget to write about this topic. Therefore, today we are going to talk about FASFA. First, you may ask, "What is FASFA." FASFA is federal aid or money for going to college. Although they said "federal aid", it is basically tax that is set aside for students who want to go to college, but need money to help pay for college. FASFA is available to students who have need and are looking to attend college (certificate program, associate degree, or 4 year degree). You need to fill out FASFA every year. FASFA should be filled out by any and every student. It is something that will without a doubt helpful in paying for school. A simple summary is basically this: (1) Wait until you or parents file Income Tax (2) Go to this website- https://fafsa.ed.gov/ (3) Create a account (4) Fill out all of the informat...

Short Story of the Fatherless Black Male

I wrote this in the backseat of a car during a road trip. This post may have a couple of grammar errors and a couple of different ideas. But, this is how I truly felt. Let's get into it. I can't sugar-coat it or make it seem insignificant. Point blank, being a young black male without a father sucks. It worse than the stench of rotten eggs, and it feels worse than being hit by a truck at high speed. Being a fatherless male is like having half of your self taken away at birth. Being a father black male means going through life without a round-the-clock mentor, a disciplinary, a friend, a dad. I mean having a mom is a blessing within itself. Most fatherless males usually have a mom. However, if it took two to create, then it is best to take two to mold and build. And, let's be honest, it's some questions no dude feels comfortable or feels right asking their mom. That is just one of the reason why not having a father sucks. At the very least, it is a inconvenien...
