                                                      " Threat to Society?"

Since  the beginning of slavery, the oppressor has been trying to make "US' a treat to society. Although, statistics (yes I said Statistics) show that African-Americans (specifically: African-American Males) are not any more violent than non-Afro Americans males. Some statistics actually show that African-American Males are less violent than any other race. The past power that be are still trying to push the label or stereo-type upon People of Color.

Further, when it comes to a threat to public safety; Black Males are legitimately the least violent. Studies show that most mass-shooting and mass-killing are done by non-Black Males 18-35. If you want more, it shows that every race usually commits violence towards their own ethnic group. Euro-Americans commit violence against each other, Asian-Americans commit violence toward each other, and so-on. Anyway, as stated above; if the facts are true: Why are we viewed as a threat to society?

Just today, I was at a local park with my family. We walked, talked, and took a couple of pictures. Anyway, as we where about to exit the park; a volunteer worker or whatever she was stopped us. My family said hello (because we are naturally friendly people). But, instead of a simple hello back; the volunteer began to talk about how she keeps up the park. How the park is a city staple. However, what made this interaction take a turn is when she then began to say how nice the park security is until they encounter "Rowdy" and "Rude" people who come to "Their Park." She want on and on about this particular topic. Now why she wanted to share this with us is not fully known. However, I think I have a idea and I think it had something to do with my family's natural and beautiful-GOD Given Skin Color.

I think this is true, for she point-out several things and then went as far as to say something about how people dress. Now she could not say anything to us about attire; for I was looking GQ today. Nice dress pant, press-out shirt, and unique Bow-Tie. The rest of my family also looked like the could grace the cover of Jet or Ebony or who ever you want to think of. Anyway, I feel like we as a people should not have to bow down or hide out of fear so that we can be label as "Safe for now" or "Not a Threat For NOW." I feel this women in the park was either (A) Racist, (B) Intimidated by Smart looking and Educated Brown People, or (C) Both.

She wanted us so badly to be the stereo-typical "imaginary" Rowdy Black People. Although, this image of people of color is about as real as a Unicorn. I think she really thought she could scare us out of the park forever or set us straight before our "Blackness" would came out and consume the entire park (ruining the park forever).

Anyway, I can't explain nor fully want give you the full details of her ignorant statements. But, her gloating or rant ended rather quickly when she was informed by the matriarch of our family that we have more than just volunteers or "Thug" preventing security in our family. She found out that many of my family members are police officers and that my family actually have donated to keep up HER "park." I telling you guys right now, Her FACE was PRICELESS. She ended up having to walk away in shame and I'm sure anger.

I guess, what I want to say is don't judge a book by its cover and to all the racist out here; leave that hatred at home. Because, you never know who you will encounter. Last, before you want to depict or label some people as a threat to society; get your facts STRAIGHT.

RIP Mr. Dick Gregory

Mr. Dick Gregory was much more than a comedian. To simply say he was a comedian would almost water-down his greatness. The greatness in which he used a comedic style to educate those of various generations and philosophies. Mr. Dick Gregory was a man of intelligence, sophistication, and humor. Mr. Gregory was a truth seeker and one whom understood that a man must always investigate the conspiracy as well as facts written in the open to truly get a possible understanding of this cryptic world. Baba Gregory understood the importance of health and taking care of one's body. He understand the importance of a healthy spiritual life, and having a true connection with the one true universal GOD. And, the importance of being aware of our ancestors whom came before we all did. Furthermore, Mr. Gregory understood the importance of mental awareness, and the idea to continue to read and learn throughout the journey of life. Mr. Gregory activism and platform is beyond great, and very ...

FASFA

I try to explore different topics and ideas to discuss/share on the blog. While going through some papers and looking through some stuff, I remember that I forget to write about this topic. Therefore, today we are going to talk about FASFA. First, you may ask, "What is FASFA." FASFA is federal aid or money for going to college. Although they said "federal aid", it is basically tax that is set aside for students who want to go to college, but need money to help pay for college. FASFA is available to students who have need and are looking to attend college (certificate program, associate degree, or 4 year degree). You need to fill out FASFA every year. FASFA should be filled out by any and every student. It is something that will without a doubt helpful in paying for school. A simple summary is basically this: (1) Wait until you or parents file Income Tax (2) Go to this website- https://fafsa.ed.gov/ (3) Create a account (4) Fill out all of the informat...

Short Story of the Fatherless Black Male

I wrote this in the backseat of a car during a road trip. This post may have a couple of grammar errors and a couple of different ideas. But, this is how I truly felt. Let's get into it. I can't sugar-coat it or make it seem insignificant. Point blank, being a young black male without a father sucks. It worse than the stench of rotten eggs, and it feels worse than being hit by a truck at high speed. Being a fatherless male is like having half of your self taken away at birth. Being a father black male means going through life without a round-the-clock mentor, a disciplinary, a friend, a dad. I mean having a mom is a blessing within itself. Most fatherless males usually have a mom. However, if it took two to create, then it is best to take two to mold and build. And, let's be honest, it's some questions no dude feels comfortable or feels right asking their mom. That is just one of the reason why not having a father sucks. At the very least, it is a inconvenien...
