This week and the last couple of weeks have been met with numerous ideas and decisions made. However, one of the group of ideas that have been extremely highlighted this week is the campaigns done by major corporations involving social injustice. For the complete article and more information about the companies doing "campaigns" go to the official LA Times website (keyword: Race, social justice, and new ideas). This highlighted what would happen if other companies made campaigns surrounding certain social issues. The article made me think about that carefully. Although, it would be great for others to get involved; what would the campaign represent and would there be backlash (because of the wording of the campaign). Like it or nah, let me be the first to say after looking up the background of Starbuck's CEO; I gained a lot more respect and insight into the #Racetogether campaign. I understood the reason and why he did it. However, again I am a big advocate for action (I'm bout that action boss - Marshawn Lynch). But, the more I read the CEO's background I liked the heartfelt attempt that was made to discuss the very thing that has brought division to this world (since the beginning of time).
Anyway, corporations in America and all over the world have a immense power that few possess. Therefore, a social campaign to fight injustice should be celebration; heck it should be nothing less than expected. However, when the campaigns are confusing or are not paired with certain actions the campaign is usually met with a angry firestorm or mixed-emotions.
At the end of the day, I appreciate all individuals, groups, and corporations that want to help in the fight against any injustice. However, these issues are sensitive and so are the people who devote their time to these issues (myself and countless others). Furthermore, injustice is very sensitive to particularly those (myself included again)who have to live everyday being personally affected by a number of the world's "issues."
In closing, I love the ideas and the chances that people on all levels take to erase injustice. However, the key to a successful campaign or fight is a quality plan and quality actions being taken thereafter. Therefore, every action being created and executed with a gold standard of excellence that can not be seen as nothing less than caring, sensitive, and non-commercial.
