Black History Month

Black History Month It’s February 2018, and we spiritually encounter and culturally embrace yet another Black History Month. Dr. Carter G. Woodson designated, dedicated, and desired for Black History “Week”, now Black History Month to be a time of great importance within our community. Although this month has became a month of learning, due to the fact of the mis-education of our people and an under-representation of African-Americans within modern/mainstream America. We have been truly blessed with the opportunity to continue to promote the narrative of black excellence and greatness for another year to another significant group of our people whom have not been made aware of our greatness. As I stated on Twitter, the other day “Black History Month is a time to reflect on the greatness of a people. It is a distinctive time of dedication, which to pay honor to the ancestors, respect to the elders, educate the youth, and create new opportunities as well as prosperity f...

RIP Mr. Dick Gregory

Mr. Dick Gregory was much more than a comedian. To simply say he was a comedian would almost water-down his greatness. The greatness in which he used a comedic style to educate those of various generations and philosophies. Mr. Dick Gregory was a man of intelligence, sophistication, and humor. Mr. Gregory was a truth seeker and one whom understood that a man must always investigate the conspiracy as well as facts written in the open to truly get a possible understanding of this cryptic world. Baba Gregory understood the importance of health and taking care of one's body. He understand the importance of a healthy spiritual life, and having a true connection with the one true universal GOD. And, the importance of being aware of our ancestors whom came before we all did. Furthermore, Mr. Gregory understood the importance of mental awareness, and the idea to continue to read and learn throughout the journey of life. Mr. Gregory activism and platform is beyond great, and very ...

Things Change: New Season

I believe that everyone eventually finds themselves. I mean how can you not find yourself? You are the same person you see in the mirror. People go crazy trying to find the one person that is always where you are at all-times, YOURSELF... However, I do think that things change, each of us has a individual journey and decision to make in our lifetime. Particularly, doing our extensive journey through manhood. We each have a unique path to take to ensure whatever outcome. Which is ultimately the consequence (good or bad) of the things we choose while on the journey/path. As I type this post, I find myself searching. Not for myself, for I know who I am. I am a young Black man in America, simply trying to make it. However, I am searching for everything that this one definition involves and requires. I am searching for peace (during moments of hardship and just in my daily life), truth (why are we here and particularly, what is the meaning of life for myself), balance (how to balanc...

"Chance the Rapper & Michael Bennett"

I love to highlights the positive narratives of young Black men, something that the media hates to do. Therefore, when I heard the news about "Chance the Rapper" and Michael Bennett, I had to share the story. I already know that y'all know who Chance the Rapper is, and also I know that y'all know Michael Bennett (no.72 for the Seattle Seahawks). Although one brother is a multiple Grammy winner and the other brother is a Super-bowl champion, I am not here today to talk about their entertainment/athletic accomplishments. I am here to talk about their awareness and their educational accomplishments. I am here to boast and celebrate that these two brothers are real brothers that refuse to be puppets for the system. This week, both Chance the Rapper and Michael Bennett made great strives to help this next generation succeed even in the face of a oppression as well as rigged system. Earlier this week, after several attempts to get a level understanding from the Governor...

College 2016 Style Guide: Young Black Man Edition

When you dress well, you feel better. When you feel better, you preform the daily tasks of life more proficiently. I also believe that style is a way to express, and show your individuality. Clothes don't make the man. But, clothes add a layer of personality, and your appearance is the first thing people pay attention too. Therefore, dressing well is extremely important to me. In this blog post, I will show you some major keys on how to dress, or even if you know how to dress well, then I will give you some of my inside tips. 1. My personal style To understand this type of style guide, I want to start by addressing my personal style. As a young black male, we are judged and unfairly seen in a negative light. To me, no matter what I wear, I will still be seen in whatever manner people want to see me as for that moment. However, I believe that when dressing well, we are extremely more confident and in control. Independent studies show, people who dress well are seen as more m...

Mr. Alton Sterling & Mr. Philando Castile

I sat at my computer, and I logged on to Twitter. To my shocked, yet unsurprised emotions, another Black Man was killed in America. Once again, another hashtag was created. A father of children, and a provider killed again. His name was, no IS Mr. Alton Sterling. Mr. Sterling like I stated above was a father, and a man just trying to do what he could to be what he knew was being a man. In addition, as I read his case and looked at him. Something got me, and hit me hard. His stature and expressions reminded me of yet another case of a Black Man being killed that broke my heart: Mr. Eric Garner. Both men, simply doing the American way is of Entrepreneurship to make ends make. To take care of their families. However, both are gone to soon. Mr. Sterling is another case of the plight of being a Black Man in America. However, the situation and the state of my emotions got worse. Before I could even grief or disgust the case of Mr. Sterling murder, I heard that possible another black man wa...

RIP Muhammad Ali (The Greatest)

As you have heard the sad news by now, the great Muhammad Ali has passed on. He was laid to rest yesterday. When I say passed on, he has moved on to another journey. To another place to inspire, love, encourage, and communicate without bounds or limits. Mr. Ali is free yet again. I don't have to say what Mr. Ali meant to me. Just from past articles, tweets, and videos, you guys already know what he meant to me. He was a inspiration, hero, mentor, and someone to look up to and listen; learning and hanging on to has every word. Even if those words were 50 years old, they still hold relevance to this very day. I am keeping this post short, because no true words can describe what he meant to me, to all of us. However, I will end this post like this. Heroes are remembered, but legends never die. Therefore, he was the greatest legend ALL-TIME. And, he will live on as long as WE as a PEOPLE are still ALIVE!!!!! Rest Easy Champ!!!!!!!
