FASFA

I try to explore different topics and ideas to discuss/share on the blog. While going through some papers and looking through some stuff, I remember that I forget to write about this topic. Therefore, today we are going to talk about FASFA. First, you may ask, "What is FASFA." FASFA is federal aid or money for going to college. Although they said "federal aid", it is basically tax that is set aside for students who want to go to college, but need money to help pay for college. FASFA is available to students who have need and are looking to attend college (certificate program, associate degree, or 4 year degree). You need to fill out FASFA every year. FASFA should be filled out by any and every student. It is something that will without a doubt helpful in paying for school. A simple summary is basically this: (1) Wait until you or parents file Income Tax (2) Go to this website- https://fafsa.ed.gov/ (3) Create a account (4) Fill out all of the informat...

Are You, Your Biggest Enemy?

This weekend, I got to fully watch Creed. I know I'm late, but I still wanted to support the movie. Excellent movie and a good $12 dollar spent, cheat-quality entertainment. Anyway, I watched the movie Creed and it was good. As I watch a movie, I try to watch the storyline. However, most importantly, I try to watch the small messages inside the movie I am watching. I try to analyze and breakdown the scenes as they each tell a individual story. So, I wanted to discuss something and make a thought provoking post. It is inspired from the movie. In the scene during the movie, Apollo Creed Jr. (Michael B. Jordan) lived a troubled childhood. Because of the death of his father and a adoptive mother, he grew up feeling like he didn't have a family. He grew up with a chip on his shoulder. A chip that landed him in consistent trouble. However, after learning boxing and then linking up with Rocky (Stallone), he begins to try to become a fighter and figure out is he just as good or bet...

Kam Chancellor & Race

If you haven't heard the news, a story come out a little while ago about Kam Chancellor. For those that don't watch football, Kam Chancellor is a pro-bowler and Super Bowl champion for the Seattle Seahawks. Without getting into his accomplishments or achievements on the football field, I want to talk abut what happen to him off the field a few weeks ago. I am truly sick of having this conversation. The conversation of race and stereotypes. The true life events about being minimized into just race or a conversation of race. However, it needs to be highlighted and discussed. It shows the fact that no matter how much green you got, your brown skin stills makes you a subject for stereotypes and racism. That you can not hide from the skin your in. And, that at any time a brother must be able to be honest with himself about the nature of people in this world. Anyway, here is a summary of what happened. As stated, Kam Chancellor is a football player. Because this is the off-seas...

Brown Brother Book Club

Since the creation of this blog, we have always had a selected book that was chosen to give some new materiel to read and something that might broaden our knowledge. Something that was made to strengthen us in a specific area of our life. Well, basically for the last few months, the book list has been non-existent. I thought the idea was a little to repetitive and we needed something different. However, through this lack of reading posts, I found that the Book of the Month was something that y'all looked forward too. The book of the month, was a powerful asset and one that was beloved. It gave ideas and the books help strength the mind and spirit. Therefore, the books are returning. We are going to start the Brown Brother Book Club. The book club is like non-other. The book club is one that is designed and geared for young black males. Every book, every month will be one that is for young black males and gives the idea/mindsets used. The books will be chosen based on what t...
